Mountain climbing, ice climbing & trekking in Bolivia and Cordoriri Area

Trekking in the Bolivian Mountains

Juri Khota - Condoriri
  • Duration: 4 Days
  • Physical rating:

The Condoriri range is arguably one of the most varied "mini-ranges" in the Cordillera Real. This trek gives you a strong flavour of its diversity. Crossing 4 mountain passes - one each day - and passing three beautiful and vast lagoons, it really is an assault on the senses. The high altitude requires that you be reasonably well acclimatised to enjoy this trek, but it is not extremely physically demanding.

Juri Khota - Condoriri Itinerary

DAY ONE

Early departure from La Paz in vehicle to the Tuni Estancia (4,200m) where we will continue on foot up to our first pass of 4,750m. The descent on the other side takes us to the Chiar khota Lagoon (4,600m) on the banks of which we will set our camp.

DAY TWO

We depart for the glacial lagoon of the Condoriri Massif and head onwards to the Austria pass (5,100m). The descent takes us to Juri Khota Lagoon (4,620m) which is the site for our second camp.

DAY THREE

Today's pass is the Jistaņa pass, with an altitude of 4,900m, taking us into the valley of Racahcha valley. There we will camp at the edge of the Hichukhota, at the civilised altitude of 4,450m.

DAY FOUR

Our final pass is the Huallatani pass (4,850m). From here, on a clear day we can enjoy the stunning views of the mountains Maria Lloco and the mighty Huayna Potosi. It is also from here that our vehicle awaits us for our return to La Paz.
